MANCHESTER FOOD RESEARCH CENTRE

Research is being carried out on food consumption patterns and nutritional status of different population groups including first year male students, adolescents and elderly people. Salt consumption patterns in population groups in the UK are also under investigation. There is a focus on the field of maternal nutrition and a current study into the diet of pregnant teenagers from Wythenshawe. Recent projects have included studies on diet and lifestyle in the over 75s, folic acid intake in women of childbearing age, food, mood and PMS and dietary intake of women with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome.
